Eric Lind-Glass: 18 Minutes of Greatness

By Alex Schumann

DORCHESTER: After three seasons with the Dorchester Devils, superstar centre Eric Lindros has finally done what many thought was impossible. He played hockey in back-to-back games.

Sort of.

Fresh off his latest injury, Lindros made a triumphant return in Game One and logged a heroic 17 minutes of ice time. Fans wept. Trainers held their breath. The team physiotherapist reportedly cancelled his vacation "just in case."

"It was beautiful," said one season-ticket holder. "I've had my seats for three years and that's the first time I've seen him without a walking boot."

Then came Game Two.

Lindros stepped onto the ice, took one shift, and lasted exactly one minute before limping back down the tunnel. Witnesses say he looked confused, as though he had wandered into the wrong building.

The Devils confirmed shortly after that Lindros had suffered another injury. Doctors are still deciding which body part to blame, and several are reportedly drawing straws.

General Manager Alex Schumann addressed reporters after the game, visibly exhausted.

"When we drafted Eric three years ago, we knew we were getting a generational talent," Schumann said. "What we didn't know was that the generation would be spent mostly in the hospital."

Schumann then confirmed that the team's medical staff has now spent more time with Lindros than his own family has.

"Honestly, our doctors have scored more points with him than our linemates have," he added.

The Devils' analytics department has since crunched the numbers. Over three seasons, Lindros has played roughly the same number of minutes as the Zamboni driver, though the Zamboni driver has a better plus-minus.

In tribute, the organization plans to rename the trainer's room "The Lindros Suite" and add a plaque reading: "He Was Here. A Lot."

Lindros remains upbeat.

"I'm feeling good," he said from beneath a pile of ice packs. "I just need to get my legs back. And my shoulder. And probably my back."

As of press time, Lindros is listed as out indefinitely.

Devils fans are bracing for his next comeback, expected sometime between next week and the next ice age.
