Oromocto Senators 17:1
Not surprisingly I think this is the beginning of something great.
After a giant draft haul that included the 1st two picks in the last draft the cupboards are stocked and it’s just a matter of time before the Senators will rejoin the league's elite.
Hull, Iginla , Vernon , Sydor, Aucoin, Arnott ,Richer and Vrbata are on the farm grooming their futures. In an ideal world that would be enough but the Fiddleheads are the defending Calder Cup champions as well. So not only will they get better but the odds are the system will fast track them to the Senators. Vernon was the key addition after The Spencer Knight incident after winning the teams first ODBHL cup.
The main roster isn't a trainwreck either, the main roster features 25 and younger building blocks in McTavish, Lecavalier , Johnson , Neighbors , Hughes and Barron.
Until the prospects start blooming expect the Senators to either continue to their stockpile or prospects or use that draft ammo for impact players.
Albert County Renegade 12.1:1
The Renegade seems like a comedy movie titled “3 Guys And a Goalie”.
With a younger goalie it seems they require a lot of support around them to gain slight improvements of success. You either require a team built on defense limiting shots or an overwhelming offensive output and try to out score your opponents.
They have McDavid who has the capacity to be anywhere from a point per game player to being a top 5 in points for the league. Brady is the classic power forward that can make life quite miserable to play against. Owen Power is a part of the next generation of Plasvic winners separated from Fox to be able to tap into his potential as an offensive defenseman.
The depth of the Renegade Defence core is the team's Achilles heel, when you get past the top two of Fox and Power it gets a little leaky. Hopefully with contracts like Demko, Konecny and Eichel , hopefully the team can make some improvements.
Dorchester Devils 10.4:1
Community Service Notice:
For the Devils organization I’d advise stocking up on this item for Eric Lindros development:
If you sign up for Amazon Prime I think you can get it shipped faster.
This team will go as far as Samsonov takes them. He’s played in every game in the last two seasons. He earns that 10.2 million dollar contract and I’m pretty sure there are labor laws that are being broken in Dorchester , Commissioner Nagle might want to launch an investigation into this.
The team is solid and has great depth. They just need the higher impact players and hopefully when Recchi and Lindros progress that will help the team get there. An upgrade in the defense could go a long way as Samsonov has started his decline and possible future lawsuit.
Cains River Blues 9.7:1
Honestly I’m a little surprised to see the Blues here. They are a perennial top 5 team in the league, however nobody is immune to Shannon’s mad scientist level of mathematical formulas. The last 3 seasons they have been 10 games above 500. This is your bulletin board motivation, not against me , I just write but those Scotsman are in the same conference this year.
Cains is a steady bend but doesn't break the team. They win with timely scoring and the two superstars up front of Hischier and Zary. My favorite is the defense core is 5 deep with 80 rated guys. Even a couple of sneaky good offensive guys in Bjornfoot and Lundqvist. They even added a good prospect of Langkow in the past draft.
The scary part is the ticking time bomb on the net. The older Monty is going to get the less dependable he will become. He regularly drops a point per season and at some point it will be faster. Possibly that would be the reason to bring in Blomqvist are a long term back up plan or they attract Finish players like the Moose attracts Swedes.
Riverview Royals 8.6 : 1
Are the Royals fully back?
Forward Wise : Yes - When you have an 84 rated centre on the third line you're cooking with great depth. The front line gets another run together but the second line will get most of the attention this year. Both lottery picks of Dave and Luc are locked into their pro roster spots due to Ashton rule 10.2 and will fight it out for the Mogilny this year. The third member is Stutzle, a potential superstar in this league if only he could stay healthy for prolonged amounts of time.
Defence : Yes - This reminds me of the Royal during the successful days. The mix of offensive and punishing defensive pairing keeps the team from being one dimensional. Bouchard is in the Karlsson role that had him winning multiple Plavsic trophies. 5 +80 overall Defence is A++.
Maybe finding someone for the 6th role so Brad Stuart could get some quietly playing time is Loggieville.
Goaltending : Maybe - This hurts me, cause Igor got me to game 6 of the finals year and Gibson is the greatest goalie in Moose history. But…..I mean at what point does Igor start showing his age and is the team in front of him going to hide-outscore his weakness. Well and Gibson is likely ready to call it a career and enjoy retirement and the $111,460,000 in career earnings.
